Here’s the minutes from the meeting on March 5th.  It was a combined meeting between members of the OVA and The First Art Gallery of Olathe.  The primary topic was planning for the OSAF.

First Gallery of Olathe – March Events

OVA partners with The First Art Gallery of Olathe for many events and classes. Additionally, several of our members are also First Art Gallery members. This month the gallery is holding several classes and events of note.

*MARCH 2 – FEATURED ARTIST RECEPTION*
CAROL RUBSAM
SATURDAY 6-8pm

The First Art Gallery of Olathe would like to personally invite you to an art reception in honor of our March featured artist Carol Rubsam. Carol will be showing her original paintings and drawings all month in the gallery.
The reception is Saturday March 2, 6-8 pm. at the First Art Gallery of Olathe. The evening will include refreshments and live music provided by guitarist Paul Martveli.
Carol invites you all to come check out her new creations and help her celebrate.

*ART CLASSES*

*March 24 – Bird House*

TIME: 2:00 – 3:00
AGES 7-18
COST: $25. per Artist
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED

Students will learn how to manipulate clay to create a fun bird house. Glaze colors will be added later.

* PAINTING WITH DAVE *
• Every Wednesday 6-9pm & Saturday 9am-12pm
• Oil & Acrylic Painting Instruction
• $10. per hour
• Ages 16-Adult
• All skill levels welcome
Want to learn how to paint? Then sign up to paint with Dave Stewart every Saturday Morning. Bring your painting supplies and Dave will teach you how to create original works of art.

*CREATIVE WORKSHOPS*
*March 19 – March Mini Magical Bouquets *

TIME: 6:30-8:30
COST : $25. per Artist
Ages: 10-Adult
All Materials provided
Space limited to 10 artists
Spring is in the air (we hope) and it’s time
for some exquisite springtime flowers.
The 2 Minis will be great to group together
or just by themselves.
Invite your friends to come and learn how to create two impasto mini paintings of spring flowers.
Bring your own refreshments; we will have water and paper goods available.
You may want to arrive a little early to get your drink and apron on!

*March 26- Impressionist Water Lilies *

Time 6:30-8:30
$25. per artist
Ages 10-Adult
Space limited to 10 artists
All materials provided

What a lovely way to spend an evening painting this serene water lily scene. The abstract lily pads make it a unique take on one of Monet’s greatest pieces of art. Glitter helps the water lilies sparkle in the sunlight. We will exploring palette knife painting techniques with this painting.
This mixed media painting would make a great Mother’s Day gift for someone you love. The instructors will help you create your own special painting. Everything you could ever want to make your painting so fabulous you may not want to give it away. The more the merrier!
Bring your own refreshments; we will have water and paper goods available.
You may want to arrive a little early to get your drink and apron on!

Heads-Up: Different Meeting Date this Month

OVA meetings are now to be held the 4th Tuesday of every other month–except for this month.  Due to a conflict, this month’s meeting will be on the 21st at 6pm rather than the 28th as it normally would be.  Appologies for the inconvenience.

Meeting Tonight

Don’t forget about the meeting tonight. We will be choosing the scholarship winner from the applicants we received.

This is not the usual date due to a scheduling conflict, but it’ll be at the same time and location as normal.  7 to 9 at the First Gallery of Olathe.  More Info
