The First Art Gallery of Olathe is a local artist co-op and a separate organization from Olathe Visual Artists. The OVA often partners with the Gallery for classes and events and many of our members are also Gallery members. Some of the classes listed below are being hosted by OVA members through the Gallery.

AUGUST 3 – ARTIST RECEPTION
FEATURED ARTIST : ANNE LORMIS
The First Art Gallery of Olathe would like to personally invite you to an art reception in honor of our August featured artist Anne Lormis. Anne will be showing her original paintings all month in the gallery. The reception for Anne is Saturday August 3, 6-8 pm at the First Art Gallery of Olathe. The evening will include refreshments and live music provided by Three Bricks Shy Duet.
Anne invites you all to come check out her new work and help her celebrate.
POUR PAINT ABSTRACTION
Tuesday, Aug. 13
Time 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
$25. per artist
Pick your color scheme, your canvas size, and POUR! Everyone’s art will be unique and magical. Plan to let the creative side take over and go with the flow. We will teach you the art of the pour to create unique abstracts no two will be the same. All materials provided.
Bring your favorite refreshments and snacks.
Tuesday, Aug. 27

$25.00 per Artist
Pick your color scheme, canvas size, and create! Everyone’s art will be unique and fabulous. We will be using a resist technique to let the creative side take over and go. These will have a stained glass look to them but each one will be a one of a kind. All materials provided. Bring your favorite refreshments and snacks.
CLAY CLASS – Ages 7- 15
Mondays-1:15-2:15 pm or 2:15-3:15 pm

Cost: $25. Per class per Artist

Students will make a bull head wall hanging. Students will learn a variety of methods for creating with clay as well as glazing. This class is offered twice a day with two different time slots to choose from.
COPPER RELIEF Sculpture
Cost:$25 per artist
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED
Students will learn how to manipulate copper foil to create a raised design. Students will then use their foil design to cover a wooden plaque or box.
WEEKLY DRAWING LESSONS – Ages: 7-15
Sundays 3:30-4:30 or 4:30-5:30
Cost: $80. for 4 classes

Class size limited
Students will learn how to draw and shade still life, animals and portraits. Students will explore the mediums of charcoal, pencil, oil pastel, ink and chalk. Classes do not have to be consecutive.
EVERY MONDAY IN AUGUST
COST : $25. per session
Ages: 10 -Adult
Space limited to 14 artists
Create beautiful beaded artwork and jewelry. You set the pace at which you learn no penalty for going slow or fast. We should meet new friends and have a lot of fun learning some very interesting techniques learning and exploring how to paint with beads. We will start with amulet bags, the technique is right angle weave. First night will be free just to get introduced and we will talk about supplies. If you want to get started the first night here is a supply list (if you want to hit the ground beading). Please bring size 8,11 or 15 seed beads in any color or contrasting colors 10 grams or a hank at least of each color,4-6 mm crystals at pack of 50- 100 crystals, nylon or beading thread size b,c or d, size 13 beading needle or big eyed needle, small scissors, smooth shallow bowl or plate. Graph paper will be supplied because there is special beading graph paper according to the technique or type bead we’ll be using. Also bring reference material like a cross stitch pattern if you like.
PAINTING WITH DAVE

Want to learn how to paint? Then sign up to paint with Dave Stewart every Saturday morning or Wednesday evenings . Bring your painting supplies and Dave will teach you how to create original works of art.
